PROJECT TWO AND READING



My generator term was Taiponapona- to tie with knots, fasten with knots.
I looked at knots in many different ways coming up with and taking away the words associated words:
folding, tying, curving, tightening, fluidity and weaving.

Naenae Community Reading: Pages 15-30

Age:
Taita and Naenae have a young population, 1/4 of residents are under 15 years.
Elderly residents may not feel comfortable in the area now due to the community getting younger.

Ethnicity/Language:
Taita and Naenae have more ethnically  diverse population than the Lower Hutt city generally, the Wellington region and NZ. From highest to lowest: European, Maori, Pacific, Asian, other.

Religion:
70% report religious rather then the regional average at 62%. Predominantly Christian.   

Social and Legal Marital Status:
40% of Taita and naenae never married. 

Duration of Residence:
The 2006 Census states that the population of Taita and Naenae was highly mobile, about 24% of people had lived at their current addressees for less than a year. In 2008 1/4 of tenants lasted over apron. 12 years. 

Socio-economical Status: 
Low socio-economic area. Primary schools in the area except for 1 are decile 1 or 2.

Smoking: 
Residents in Taita and Naenae are more likely to be current smokers than others in Lower Hutt or Wellington region.

Tenure:
More likey to not own their own dwelling than regional or national averages. Out of households that were rented a much higher proportion were reported to belong to Housing NZ than regional or national averages.
